Hidden Enemy is Live

November 28, 2018 By JPMcLean 2 Comments

The winter rains have set in here in the Pacific Northwest, and I can’t think of a better way to while away the dark evenings than by reading a good book. Speaking of which . . .

Hidden Enemy has been released!

Emelynn Taylor’s discovery of a forbidden book threatens to expose dangerous secrets. Two powerful factions clash: one ancient, one evil. And both of them want a piece of her. Not even her gift of flight will save her. Emelynn must form an uneasy partnership with a dangerous man and risk her gift and her future to protect her friends’ lives.

Revelation’s New Cover

December 18, 2015 By JPMcLean 8 Comments

Revelation Book CoverThe house is a mess, laundry is piled up, the Christmas wreath is still not hung, but Revelation has a new cover! Viona Halim’s artwork remains front and centre. The new title font for all of The Gift Legacy books is Cinzel.

WindStorm Press reports that Revelation with its new cover will be back in print and e-book on Christmas Eve! (Maybe even sooner?)

(*Update: Revelation is now Hidden Enemy)

A forbidden book. A dangerous secret. A life in the balance.

In the wake of a bullet and a broken heart, Emelynn Taylor learns the true portent of a gift she can barely control. Her discovery of a forbidden book unlocks explosive secrets that connect her to a past she never imagined.

Now someone is threatening to expose those secrets, and an unknown assailant is hunting her. With everyone hiding something, whom can she trust? Emelynn is thrust into the eye of a storm as two powerful factions clash: one ancient, one evil. And both of them want a piece of her.

Knowing that not even her gift of flight will save her, Emelynn forms an uneasy partnership with a dangerous man she must learn to trust—and then she must risk her gift and her future to protect her friends’ lives.

The second book in The Gift Legacy series, Hidden Enemy is a thriller that skirts the edges of reality in a world within our own. Climb aboard and escape the ordinary: take flight with Emelynn Taylor.

New Publisher for The Gift Legacy

October 6, 2015 By JPMcLean 8 Comments

Logo for WindStorm PressIn my last post I referenced some exciting news that I am now able to share. It gives me great pleasure to announce that I have a new publisher. The first three books of The Gift Legacy will soon be re-released by WindStorm Press.

In the coming days, Awakening, Revelation and Redemption will be temporarily pulled from the market. It’s a necessary step as the books change hands from one publisher to the next.

When the books are re-released, they will have updated covers. So if you’re looking for first editions, get them while you can. Awakening’s first edition is on its way to the vault. Editorial review on Revelation and Redemption is still incomplete, but I expect they will also undergo a nip and tuck.

Revisiting these books has been an interesting experience. It reminds me that every writer is a work in progress. Each offering improves our craft, and The Gift Legacy will sparkle with the effort of the editorial review.

I can’t wait to share them with you!

Update: A work in progress indeed. The books underwent a major rebranding in 2018/2019 to better position them in the market. You can read about the series of events as they unfolded under the Media>Fast Facts Tab.

And here are the latest covers:

Off to Singapore

September 16, 2013 By JPMcLean 6 Comments

On Tuesday, the hubs and I are off to Singapore. It’s been planned for months; a delightful perk of being married to a Formula 1 fan. For most of the racing season, he’s content to watch the races from home, but for the past four years, he and a friend have chosen one race each year to attend in person.

Last year, for the first time, the friend’s wife and I joined them for the race in Austin, Texas. Well, she and I didn’t actually “go” to the race, but we had the best time. Sixth Street in Austin on the weekend is like no other. Great live bands, delicious food and fun-loving crowds, not to mention an extraordinary cowboy boot selection.

This year the husbands chose the race in Singapore and I can hardly wait. If you have a “must see, do or taste” suggestion for Singapore, I’d love to hear it.

The timing for this wee vacation is perfect. The last few weeks have been unbelievably busy on the publishing front with Book II barely out of the gate and Book III at the post, believe me,  I’m ready for some R&R.

I’ll take lots of pics and post them here if the computer gods are smiling. Which, given my decided lack of computer prowess, will be required.

Wish me luck. I’ll be back soon. Now, where did I put that credit card…
